pixels overflowing
begging to belong to someone more deserving
someone like you, perhaps

and there is nothing left to do but be a hero

you can give them new life, new truth
you can photoshop yourself into the picture
your face atop a size 2 body on spring break from Harvard,
since your face is better, anyway

and there is nothing left to do but be a hero
to give them the story they're entitled to

jittery, trembling pixels
descend,
a cloud of flies upon the screen that blocks their path

shaking, rueful pixels,
wait for you to rescue them
to reach past the digital proscenium
and run.
